The presentation of the third Johann Strauss complete edition (Prince Methusalem) by CPO marks the completion of Ernst Theis’ work on the recording project The Unknown Strauss with the ensemble of the Dresden State Operetta. After having presented The lace handkerchief of the Queen an The Prince Methusalem , the performance of The Carnival of Rome at the Cologne Philharmonic Hall completed his three-piece Johann Strauss Cycle at Colognes famous concert hall. His partner was the well known German actress Desirée Nick.

The opera magazine Opernglas reflects upon Ernst Theis’ performance as conductor of the Strauss Festival Dresden 2012:
In both cases (Strauss/Prince Methusalem, Offenbach/Dutchess of Gerolstein) Ernst Theis conducted the inspirational orchestra of the State Operetta with his poised leadership...
